Writing

1. Narrative Craft

2. The Lense of History: Research Reports

3. Research- Based Argument Essay

4. Memoir

** Grammar is embedded and we focus on prefixes, suffixes, and root words during Word Study

Math

We have 6 modules in Math

Module 1: Place Value and Decimal Fractions

Module 2: Multi- Digit Whole Number and Decimal Fraction Operations

Module 3: Addition and Subtraction of Fractions

Module 4: Multiplication and Division of Fractions and Decimal Fractions

Module 5: Addition and Multiplication with Volume and Area

Module 6: Problem Solving with the Coordinate Plane

Science/ Social Studies

Science

5th Graders learn how to code through STEM and robotics. Logistics are being discussed on how we can safely have students work together on these tasks. We are hopeful that these units can be taught during Term 2.

Social Studies

Social Studies is embedded through our Non- Fiction Reading Unit. Students also learn a lot about Western Expansion through writing research reports.
