K - 2 Activities

SOUND IS EVERYWHERE!

Even when go through our everyday lives, we make MUSIC!  We make LOUD and SOFT sounds, FAST and SLOW sounds, SMOOTH sounds, SCRATCHY sounds...the possibilities are ENDLESS!

Read along with the following story called "The Listening Walk" to explore the different sounds the child hears on their walk.

Directions:

  • GO OUTSIDE FOR A WALK!
  • Make a list of the different sounds you hear. Be sure to put them IN ORDER so you can PERFORM your "listening walk" for your family!

What does your walk sound like?  Are there FORTE (loud) sounds?  PIANO (soft sounds)?  PRESTO (Fast) or LARGO (Slow) sounds?  What are the MOST INTERESTING sounds that you hear?
