Writers Workshop: 9

 Asking and Answering Questions to add more

Objective:Students will learn that writing partners help each other add more to their writing. Children will practice asking questions about a shared story. Children will learn that by saying "where"," how" and "why" questions they can help writers discover what they can add to their writing.

Word Study Lesson 9

Learning To Write Names By Heart

Objective: Students will use a name map showing the correct pathway to write each letter in their names to practice the letters in their names. Teacher will review the path to write the letter M. Children will practice writing giant letters in the sky. Children will label coat spots.

Handwriting/ Phonics

Children will learn the phonics chant  and proper formation for  the letter

Eureka Math: Lesson # 21

 Lesson Objective: Students will compare counts of 8 in a linear array configuration. Match with numeral 8

Eureka Math: Lesson 23:

Objective: Students will organize and count 9 varied geometric objects in a linear and array(3 threes) configuration. Place objects on a 5-group mat. Match with numeral 9

Writer's Workshop: 

Session 10 Stretching out words to write even more sounds.

Children will practice saying words slowly, over and over again, to write all the sounds they hear. Children will practice using a new tool (alphabet chart) to write the sounds they hear in words

Word Study: Lesson #10: Owning letters and teaching them to others

Children will learn that one way to make sure they really own the first letter of their name is to teach it to others. Children will make name collages. They will create a collage of items that begin with the same sound as their own name.

Reader's Workshop: Lesson 13 Readers use exact characters words Objective: Children will learn that readers make their old favorite storybook reading better by using exact characters words (Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Carrot Seed) teacher will demonstrate reading a section of an old favorite storybook (The Three Billy Goats Gruff). Teacher will introduce stick puppets!

Eureka Math Lesson 24

Students will strategize to count 9 objects (around a paper plate) and scattered configurations printed on paper. Students will write the numeral 9 and number each object.

Lesson 14 Readers Reread Old Favorites, remembering to say more and more of the story. Objective: Children will learn how to use the words on the page to push themselves to say more when reading their old favorite storybooks

Word Study: Lesson 11 Using names to build new words. 

Students will learn that when they know words by heart, they can use parts of these words to make new words. Children will learn that by changing the first sound in a word to a different sound produces a rhyming word.

 

Eureka Math: Lesson #25 Count 10 objects in linear and array configurations (2 fives). Match with numeral 10. Practice writing numeral 10.
