Writers Workshop:14: Today I want to teach you that when writers write stories, they try to write them in such a way that readers feel like they are right there with them. To do this, they think about where they were, who they were with, and what they were doing on each page, and then they put those details into the pictures and words.

 Phonics Session 14:
Today I want to teach you that to write all the exciting things that you want to write. You sometimes need to be brave and write with new letters that you've never used before.

Eureka Math: Lesson #31

 Lesson Objective: Arrange, analyze, and draw 1 more up to 10 in configurations other than towers.

Readers Session 15: Students will learn to use words like "and then.." and "after that..." to connect one page to the next to make their old favorite storybooks sound better.

Word Study: Students will be introduced to the sight word "the". Students will read and highlight the word "the" and read the story "Setting the Table". Also see videos to the right to practice the new word.

Objective: Arrange, analyze, and draw sequences of quantities of 1 more, beginning with numbers other than 1.

Writing Session 15: Hearing and Recording Sounds in Sequence Objective: Teacher will remind students of the work they have already been doing as writers to record the sounds they hear to add labels and words to their pieces. Students will review the strategies writers use to hear and record sounds (Alphabet chart, name chart, saying words slowly)Writing Session: Students will complete an independent writing piece to add to their folders. Teacher will conference with students.

Reader's Session 16: When you read a book over and over again you try to use some of the exact words from the book. Some of the words, especially words that repeat, become words you know by heart. They become words that you can say exactly like the book says them.

Eureka Math: Lesson #33 

Objective: Order quantities from 10 to 1, and match numerals.

Writer's Workshop

Writer's Session 16:
Today I want to teach you that characters talk.
You can do this by putting speech bubbles by whoever is talking. When you tell the story the speech bubble will remind you to include what people said.

 

Word Study: 

Students will be introduced to the sight word "I " & "like" Students will read the book and highlight the word "like" in the story and review "the' from earlier in the week. Read "I like Halloween". Also see videos to the right to practice the new word.

Objective: Count down from 10 to 1, and state 1 less than a given number.
