Handwriting/Phonics:

Children will learn the phonics chant  and proper formation for the letter Jj

Writer's Workshop Session 1: Students will look at various pieces of reading and sort them based on easy to read and hard to read. Will use examples from Lucy CD. Students and teacher will work to make anchor chart "What makes writing hard to read"

Phonics Session #1 & #2 (combined)

NEW UNIT: 
Session 1 & 2 Combine: Word scientists/Understanding how the alphabet chart works

Objective: Students will learn that they can look at the pictures on the alphabet chart , just like scientists study special objects. Students will discover how the pictures on the alphabet chart can help them remember the sound that goes with a letter.

Complete one page of the alphabet book. Pick on page and draw something that begins with that letter and label it.

Eureka Math: Module 2 Lesson #3

Objective: Module 2 Lesson 3: Explain decisions about classifications of rectangles into categories using variants and nonexamples. Identify shapes as rectangles

Word Study: Students will be introduced to the sight word "see". Students will read and highlight the word "see" and read the story Look! I See Animals. Also see videos to the right to practice the new word.

Writer's Workshop:  Writer's Workshop Session #2: How to Write a True Story that Reader's Want to Read Link:

Today students will follow the familiar steps of writing a personal narrative by coming up with an idea, telling the story across pages, and then writing and drawing the story. They might include speech bubbles in their writing, using a previously taught strategy to bring their writing to life. Some may even write two or three stories today.

Eureka Math: Module 2 Lesson #6: 

Objective: Find and describe solid shapes using informal language without naming.
