Daily Lessons

REMOTE LEARNING DAY!

Please see the packet sent home before vacation for materials and each classroom's Zoom Information.

Writer's Workshop Session 12 & 13 Combined (Please watch  both videos):

Learning Objective for 12:

Putting It Together: How to Make Readable Writing

Today your students will look back over all of their writing. They’ll take stock and think about all that they have learned about making their writing easy to read. Then, they’ll think of ways they can improve their writing and will spend time going through past pieces to make them even better. They might focus on spelling, spaces, or punctuation, and will go through multiple previous pieces as they make changes.

Learning Objective for 13:

Writers Search Their Mental and Drawn Pictures to Make Their Stories Better

Today your students will go back to at least one story they had written previously and revise—which will usually mean adding more. They’ll add details into the pictures and words to make the story even better. They might use fun revision tools, like special colored pens. Some students will likely revise two or three pieces while others might revise one and then start a new piece.

10:30-11:10 Daily Special: Zoom classroom teacher for special at 10:30am.

After, they can switch and the other partner will read their writing. They’ll then continue to work on fixing up writing independently as well.

Then, they’ll revisit a piece of their own writing. They’ll add more letters to the labels they’ve already written, and they’ll challenge themselves to write a sentence, writing some words in a snap and saying other words slowly and recording all the sounds they hear.

Reader's Workshop: Session 14

Objective: Readers Change Their Voices to Show They Understand a Book

Today your students will be working on their reading voice muscles. They will need to be the kinds of readers who really pay attention to what is happening in the book as they read so they can change their voices to match each character and each part. By doing this, readers are showing off their comprehension muscles and are able to bring their listeners into the book in a way that helps them understand it too! Of course you will want your readers to not only practice this independently, you will also want them showing off their skills to their reading partner.
