Writer's Workshop: Unit 3 Session 6 Writers Write as Many Books as They Can.  Today your child will come up with more and more ideas for how-to books and will create covers for them. They will think through their day or things they love to do and find ideas from their regular activities. They might choose to write more on one of their topics, but will spend the majority of their time making covers to use in later sessions.

Word Study Unit 3 Session 7 Making Words with More Vowel-Consonant Rimes Today students will number their paper 1-5 and then will write words that have the word parts –it and –an. Then they’ll read the words they’ve written.

Writers Workshop Unit 3 Session 9 Writing for Reader's Using the work YOU! 

Students will learn that when you're writing a how-to-book, your words need to reach your reader. And that readers might be standing there, with something half-made, half-done, waiting to hear what to do next. One of the best ways to reach your readers is to talk directly to them by saying the word YOU.

Choose a friend from class that you would like to write and kind letter to. We will share them with our classmates!

Readers Workshop  Unit 3 Session 9 Readers Can Notice Consonant Clusters to Help Solve Unknown Words.

Objective: Children will learn that as books get more challenging, they will have to move from looking just at initial consonant in a word to looking at the first two/ three consonants.
