 Writer's Workshop:  Writers Workshop Unit 4 Session 3: Don't Stop There! Generating More Writing for More Causes   In this session, you'll teach students that opinion writers cast a wide net when writing, writing in a variety of genres and to a variety of audiences.

Objective: Student will learn that because words always have vowels in them, writier's check for those vowels and fix them as needed.

Readers Workshop: Unit 4 Lesson 5 Avid Readers Use All the Letters and Sounds to Read Words

Today readers might spend a few minutes before they start reading making a chart of the superpowers they don’t use easily or often. Then they will start to read, practicing using the super-powers they identified.

 Readers Workshop: Unit 4 Lesson 7/8 Close reading and book based pretending. Students will explore the idea that reading is a lot like pretending; avid readers act out a story in their minds each time they read. They’ll especially focus on picturing what’s happening on each page. They might even use gestures to physically act out some parts of their books. Daily Specials:  Gendron –Music Murphy – Library Scenna - PE Word Study:   Phonics Unit 4 Session 8 Identifying and Editing for short E,O, and U sounds Objective: Children will work hard to tell short vowel sounds apart, especially E,O, and U   Extension: Variation on a familiar song to reinforce short vowels. Extension: Writing sort to practice distinguishing vowels. Eureka Math: Module 4 Lesson 31 Solve add to with total unknown and put together with total unknown problems with totals of 9 and 10.     Template Problem Set  Homework ST Math:  For Extra Practice log onto ST Math for 30 minutes.  Please have your child complete 30 minutes of ST Math.
