Salem Explorers: Mad Scientist Week 2018

Each week we will explore a new topic through art, science, math and literacy. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we will be at our base camp, and the program will run from 8:30-12:30. On Thursdays, we will be out and about on field trips from 8:30-2:00

Check out what we've been up to!

We had a great first day!

We did various experiments like Walking Water and Magic Milk! We learned that scientists first make predictions before doing an experiment and recording their data. We even shared our predictions and findings with a partner, seeing how our predictions compared to each other and the final product!

Mad Scientist Fun!

This week’s experiments included seeing if an ant prefers lollipops or lemons, figuring out which candy bars sink and which float, and adding Mentos to soda! We also created our own experiments, forming a question, conducting the experiment, and recording our findings! We also investigated how to make a leak proof bag and shoot a straw across a string using just a balloon! We loved being scientists - making predictions, exploring, investigating, creating, and questioning! We learned so much about making predictions and recording data - we loved seeing if our predictions were correct!
