Salem Explorers: Science Exploration Week 2019

Each week we will explore a new topic through art, science, math and literacy. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we will be at our base camp, and the program will run from 8:30-12:30. On Thursdays, we will be out and about on field trips from 8:30-2:00

Museum of Science Field Trip

We are very excited to kick off  Salem Explorers with Science Exploration Week! We have a fun week of discovery, exploration and games planned for our campers. We have a STEM teacher coming to Lancaster on Tuesday to teach us all about the STEM behind water rockets. We will get to build and launch water rockets. How cool?! We will end the week with a trip to the Boston Children's Museum!

We have three fabulous teachers who will be working with your children next week: Ms. Jamie Aponas, who is a first grade Teacher at Lancaster, Ms. Jacqui Kiley, who teaches second grade at Barron and Mrs. Linda Smith, who is a reading assistant at Barron School. Each of our teachers brings creativity, knowledge, patience, enthusiasm, and many more individual strengths to our program. They are very excited to work with your children this summer!

When you arrive at camp on Monday, please go directly to the playground at Lancaster School. Teachers will meet you there at 8:30. When you arrive, you will need to check off that your child is at camp on the attendance sheet, which will be on a clipboard on the picnic table. When you pick your child up at 12:30, you will need to sign your child out on the same clipboard. If students are arriving on a bus a teacher will get them off the bus and sign them in.

Your child should bring a snack and a drink or two to camp each day. We will take a break midway through our morning to have a snack and play outside. We have several children who are allergic to nuts attending Salem Explorers this summer. If possible, please avoid sending snacks with nuts or peanut butter in them.  Also, please send your child to camp in clothes that can get dirty. We try very hard to keep them stain free, but sometimes, we are just having too much fun!
