One of the favorite activities in our library classes is voting for the New Hampshire State Library book awards.
(Grades K-3) 10 recently published picture books are selected by a committee of children's librarians each spring. In the fall we read one book each week and then students vote on their favorite title in November. The winner is announced in December.
All of Salem's K, 1st, and 2nd graders voted on their favorite Ladybug Award nominee the week of Dec. 3-7. Not Quite Narwhal was our local winner as well as this year's Ladybug Book Award Winner!
(Grades 4-6) 20 recently published middle grade novels are selected by a committee of children's librarians each spring. In library class we promote the titles, and encourage students to read them throughout the year. The week before April vacation the students vote on their favorite title. The winner is announced in May.
