Course Description

COMPUTER SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY 2

Course# 819, Grades 11-12, 2 Credits (RS), Year

Year 2 of this program builds on the basic skills learned in Computer Science & Technology I to teach students more detailed object oriented coding using Java and Python. The program will give students experience with real-world software development projects based on Agile methodology Students will collaborate to complete detailed projects that help highlight and solve problems in our school, community, and society. These projects will include physical computing, app development, and video game design.

Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in Computer Science & Technology or permission of instructor


AP COMPUTER SCIENCE

Course #855, Grades 10-12, 2 Credits (RS), Year

While similar to Computer Science & Technology II, this course moves at an accelerated pace and prepares students to take the AP Computer Science A exam. Students learn more detailed object oriented coding using Java and Python. The program will give students experience with real-world software development projects based on Agile methodology Students will collaborate to complete detailed projects that help highlight and solve problems in our school, community, and society. These projects will include physical computing, app development, and video game design.

Prerequisite: Computer Science & Technology 1 or AP Computer Science Principles
