Chapter 8 Color

Fitzgerald uses color throughout the book for its symbolic meanings.  Use the links to understand color symbolism, find examples in chapter 8, and analyze the examples.

  1. Go to this website to learn about the symbolic meanings of colors.  Take notes on Gold/Golden (yellow), Green, White, and gray.  Use this link for silver. Use this one for gold.
  2. Next, go to this website for a pdf version of chapter 8 and use the find feature to search for uses of the colors.
