In the first week of school, we discussed what it meant to be a team. We talked about how important it is that we help each other, and all the different ways we can help each other. We had a conversation about how we are each unique, and beautiful. We are all different that is what makes each of us so special and an important piece of our classroom!
After reading, "This School Year Will Be The Best" by Kary Winters we followed the story by discussing our hopes and dreams for first grade. What do we really want to accomplish this year? What is a goal you want to set for yourself in first grade? We paired our hopes and dreams with our self portraits. They will be hung above the whiteboard as a constant reminder to keep up the good effort! Reach your hopes and dreams!
We read Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. Following the read aloud we thought about some words that described us, words that make us who we are.

Hello Team 3 Families!
This week we had time for a petal and thorn share before dismissal. A petal is something that happened during the week that made you feel really good! A thorn is something that was hard for you. This can be a good conversation starter when asking your child about the school day. They had great shares! :)
