Our instructional time in 7th grade will focus on four critical areas:

  • Developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships
  • Developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations
  • Solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume
  • Drawing inferences about populations based on samples

Listed below are the units of study this year:

Unit 1: Two-Dimensional Geometry

Unit 2: Integers and Rational Numbers

Unit 3: Understanding Similarity

Unit 4: Ratios, Rates, Percents, and Proportions

Unit 5: Linear Relationships

Unit 6: Three-Dimensional Geometry

Unit 7: Making Comparisons and Predictions

Unit 8: Probability and Expected Value

Grading Policy

Grades are based on the accumulation of points.  Each assignment will be worth a certain amount of points!

  • Tests and Quizzes
    • Will be pre-announced to students
      • Retakes are available for up to two weeks after the original date of the assessment.  Students must complete the independent practice that correlates with the assessment, set-up a conference and fill out a Test Reflection Form prior to the retake.
  • Independent Practice
    •  Will be checked weekly and documented for completion in Infinite Campus, under “Unscored Assignment”
      • "C" means Complete
      • "P" means Partially Complete
      • "I" means Incomplete
  • Study Plan
    • Study plans assigned through MathXL will be assigned before each new unit and need to be completed within the specified time frame
