Google Images
When using Google Images, be sure to select "Search Tools" then change "Not filtered by license" to "Labeled for reuse" to find royalty-free images.

There are a number of free resources for modifying images. If you don't have Adobe Photoshop, try Pixlr on the web. You can change the pixels to 72dpi (screen resolution); as well as modify other image attributes. You can also crop an image.
