Art Resources for Home

Lesson One

Common Core Standard: Re:7.2.5a

Look at the images below to answer the following questions.

What culture do you think this art comes from? What do you think this art is trying to say about that specific culture? When do you think this art was created? What do you think it’s purpose was (what was it used for)?

Lesson Two

Common Core Standard: Cr:2.3.5a

Identify your favorite place or your favorite item.

Describe in detail the place or object - either write it down, make a video of you describing it, or create a visual description, like a drawing.

EXTENSION: *If you have art supplies or some extra time* If you have made a drawing of your favorite place or object, use any available supplies to color it in. Another thought would be to create a diorama of your favorite place.

Lesson Three

Common Core Standard: Re:8.1.5a

Look at the piece below by Pop Artist, Roy Lichtenstein. How is this work of art relevant to you? What part do you connect with? Why? Does it remind you of anything? How does it make you feel (think: mood)?

EXTENSION: *If you have art supplies and some extra time* Create your own comic based on how your feeling or something you're interested in.
