Google Classroom: Staying Organized

With so many of us using Google Classroom, it can be confusing for students to manage all class materials. Whether it is your class name, materials, or an assignment, following these tips will help students to find exactly what they need as they move between "Classrooms".

Windows 10 Tips

As you begin to operate with your new Windows 10 upgrade, there may be some functional questions that arise.  As a reminder, here is a handy document that we in the IT department put together.  Please reach out with any questions.

Notifications When Changes in Google Applications are Made

Being notified when a Google Doc is edited is a common request.  Unfortunately, Google Docs doesn't have this ability yet.  However,  you can receive notifications when comments are added to the Document.  Another option is to use Google Sheets instead, as this application does offer notification of updates/editing.  Google Classroom also allows for notification adjustment.

Manage Your Comment Notifications

  1. On your computer, open a document, spreadsheet, or presentation.
  2. In the top right corner of the file, click Comments Open comments.
  3. Click Notifications.
  4. Choose when you want to receive notifications:
  • All: Whenever any comments are made.
  • Only yours: Whenever others reply to your comments or comments you are added to.
  • None: Never receive emails about comments for that file.

Classroom Notifications

You can choose whether or not to receive notifications for a specific class. For example, if you don’t want any notifications for your Math class, you can turn them off, but you’ll still get notifications for your other classes.  See below or click Here to see full options.

Note: If you turn off notifications for a class, all notifications for that class are turned off.

  1. At the top, click Menu Menu.

    Click Menu

  2. Click Settings.

(You might need to scroll down.)

    Click Settings

  3. (Optional) Next to Receive email notifications, click the switch to on Turn off.
  4. Next to Class notifications, click the Down arrow Down Arrow
  5. Next to the class name, click the switch to on Turn off or off Turn on
