This program is intended for students who would like to learn more about the field of education, perhaps are even considering a career in the field of education at any level or in any capacity. In this program, you will be introduced to education history, theory, and methods of teaching. This course provides you with a basic understanding and introduction to the teaching and education profession. The competencies and curriculum focus on education topics similar to those taught in a college curriculum. In fact, you will have the opportunity to participate in Southern New Hampshire University’s dual enrollment program and may choose to receive college credit for classes in this program. Because of this, the nature of courses in this requires mature, responsible, self-directed learners. Courses will be taught as introductory college classes. Emphasis will be placed on developing academic skills, learning content, and developing work-ready skills. In addition to classroom work, you will also be required to complete observation hours in a variety of classroom settings. Of course, all of the specifics of course requirements will be discussed on the first day. Technology, including but not limited to google classroom and libguides, is used regularly for both communicating and for course information and evaluative criteria submission.
I am truly looking forward to working with you! As one who has devoted his professional life to education, I think you’ve chosen a valuable and rewarding field to study. If you have any questions or if I can clear anything up for you, just let me know. If you email me, you WILL hear back from me.
Best of luck in your course selections!
