Cosmetology: Home

Welcome to Cosmetology

Cosmetology is the newest program offered at the Salem CTE where a brand new salon and classroom have been constructed.  Cosmetology is a high demand area with a strong employment outlook. The State of New Hampshire requires 1,500 hours of education and clinical experience for licensing.  Through partnerships with post-secondary cosmetology schools, students can earn up to 300 clinical hours over the 2 year CTE program. Students should have strong communication skills as this is a very social environment.  Because clinical hours are accrued, all absences must be made up to account for lost hours. Students are responsible for obtaining an apprentice license ($25.00) and a cosmetologist kit and mannequin (approx. $150-$230). Financial and fundraising assistance is available.

ANGELA VALLEE

I graduated 16 years ago from Michael’s School of Hair Design & Esthetics. Working in the salon and education have always been a passion of mine. After working in the salon for a number of years I decided to pursue the education side next. I worked as a Learning Leader and Educational Leader at a Paul Mitchell School for 10 years. During my time at the school I taught and was named the cutting, color and texture specialist. Cutting is my passion and what drives my creativity. The opportunities were endless in this career choice for me. Bringing me across the country to California twice a year, Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Newport Beach were a regular visit for me for my training, amongst others! I also perused the title of National Educator for 4 years before having my son. This career path led me to many salons, shows, platform artist’s, and training that was extremely valuable to my Industry. The next road for me was being where I knew I could made a positive impact on students lives, and that was the CTE program at Salem High school.
