The Information Technology team strives to provide the effective integration of secure and reliable technology solutions which support the Salem School District academic and administrative goals, while maintaining a high level of excellence in customer service.
In support of this mission, we will:
The Salem School Districts believes that technology, when appropriately applied and used, is a powerfully enabling tool. But it is just that, a tool. This year we have embarked on a year-long, mandatory Digital Citizenship curriculum for all teachers to reinforce proper BEHAVIOR when using technology. Students learn the mechanics of how to use technology through classroom use. In partnership with the Librarians and Curriculum team, IT will be simultaneously developing student Digital Citizenship curriculum this school year with the goal of providing it K-12 next year.
Student learning is no longer contained within the four walls of a classroom. We're committed to helping students achieve whenever and wherever possible.
As a result, the Salem School District IT Department is working with teachers to gradually adopt Google Classroom to augment and extend the classroom experience. This application provides students and teachers a secure online site to submit and organize assignments, find support material, and interact with the teacher and other students.
