Roberta Maynard's Classroom: Welcome to Second Grade

CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS

February    Valentine's Day

Next week we will celebrate Valentine’s Day in class by sharing cards and enjoying a snack.   I would like to help students decorate Valentine Day boxes for valentines.  We could use any available empty shoe boxes or tissue boxes you have at home for this project. We will decorate boxes on Monday, February 13th.   I will provide students with a bag to decorate if we do not have enough boxes available.

  January News

Please make sure students are prepared for the winter weather & conditions during our recesses.  They should come to school with a winter jacket, a hat, mittens or gloves, boots, and snowpants if there is snow on the ground.

Holiday Gift Swap

Holiday Gift Swap:

  • The students will need to bring in a NEUTRAL gift for the swap.

The gift must be some sort of school supply item/s with a maximum spending limit of $5.00.  (The kids are all in need of new supplies J)

  • Some ideas are markers, crayons, highlighters, pencil sharpener, small staplers, small notebooks, “cool” pens/pencils, or erasers.
  • I will be reading a story to the children.  When I say a “key” word, the kids will pass their gift. When the story is done, all the kids will end up with a different present.

Our gift swap will take place on Thursday, December 22nd.
