My name is Miss Pacuk and I am your child's music teacher! This is my sixth year in the Salem School District and I teach at both Lancaster Elementary and Soule Elementary School. I believe that music is something that can and should be a part of every child's life and work to give my student's the tools to experience it to the fullest.
Kindergarten: In kindergarten music we are learning about high and low sounds, and how they are used to create musical patterns!
First Grade: In first grade music we are learning about pitches and how we can use them to create melodies!
Second Grade: In second grade we are learning about melody and pitch and how we can combine them with rhythms to make songs!
Third Grade: In third grade we are learning how to read melodies on the musical staff. We have been creating our own melodies and practicing how to sing and play them on different instruments- including the recorder!
Fourth Grade: In fourth grade we have just begun learning how to play the recorder! Students are learning how to play a non-percussion instrument for the first time and will be performing and creating their own music!
Fifth Grade: In fifth grade we have spent a lot of time learning about chords, or groups of three or four notes played together to make the accompaniment to music. Students are taking that knowledge and using it to create the accompaniment to pop a song of their choice. We are now working to perform that song as a class!
