DESIGN 1 Course# 600, Grades 9-12, 1/2 Credit, Quarter This quarter course is an introduction to the elements and principles of design as they relate to the applied arts. Students will explore a variety of media and techniques used by artists in careers such as graphic design, architectural and interior design, industrial and product design, fashion and surface design, and photography. Basic drawing skills are recommended. Design 1 is intended as a beginning course in art suitable for all students. For those planning to continue in art, Design 1 is intended to prepare the student for enrollment in Design 2, Jewelry Design, or Commercial Art.
