Salem High School: High School Competency Recovery

High School Competency Recovery

The Salem School District is offering competency recovery courses for students currently enrolled in high school. This summer’s course offerings may be taken in order to earn credit for a course failed during the school year. Tuition for competency recovery classes this summer are FREE for Salem High school students.

Course Description



  • Algebra 1: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am-11:00 am, Remote
  • Algebra 2; Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-12:00 noon, In person
  • Geometry: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-12:00 am, In person


  • English 9: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am-11:00 am, Remote
  • English 10: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am-11:00 am, Remote
  • Comprehensive American Studies 2, 9:00 am-12:00 noon, Remote


  • Chemistry: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am-11:00 am, Remote
  • Biology: Hybrid Schedule - Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 8:00 am-11:00 am (Remote); Thursday 8:00 am-11:00 am (in-person)
  • Earth and Space:  Monday-Thursday, 5:00 pm-8:00 pm, Remote

Social Studies: 

  • Global Studies: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 am-11:00 am, Remote
  • American Studies I: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-12:00 noon, Remote


  • Health/PE: Monday-Thursday, 9:00 am-12:00 noon, Remote


Monday–Thursday, June 28 thru July 29, 2021

Free for Salem students

Attendance is required for all classes.  For remote classes, students will be expected to Zoom at least two times per week with the teacher.


Registration Deadline:
Students must enroll by JUNE 25, 2021. Advanced sign-up is recommended as classes may be cancelled if minimum enrollments are not met.
