Salem Public Schools: Home Test Results

Home COVID-19 Test Result Submission

Guidelines for submitting a negative test result to the school nurse.

Home Test Kit Policy

Students with symptoms can return to school with a negative COVID-19 test provided they have been fever-free for 24 hours and symptoms have improved. Test results from a pharmacy or doctor’s office are preferred, but home tests are also acceptable.

Select the appropriate home test kit type from the options listed for specific submission guidelines.

Submitting A Negative Test Result

To submit a negative test result from a QuickVue home test, write the student's initials on the test strip indicating a negative result (blue line). Take a photo of this test strip and email to your school nurse. Note: The image needs to be clear enough to determine that a blue line exists and no other lines are shown on the strip. The initials must match those of the student being tested (example shown: "TS" for Test Student).

Attach the photo to an email and send it to the school nurse with the student's name and the date and time of the negative test result.

Submitting A Negative Test Result

To submit a negative test result from an Abbot BinaxNow home test, write the student's name and test date on the card indicating a negative result (a single pink/purple colored control line in the top half of the window). Take a photo of this card and email to your school nurse. Note: The image needs to be clear enough to determine that a pink/purple line exists and no other lines are shown on the card.

Attach the photo to an email and send it to the school nurse with the student's name and the date and time of the negative test result.
