Summer Reading: Collaborations

Essential Questions:

  • What role does art play in discovering personal identity?
  • How can socioeconomic divisions affect a person coming-of-age in America?
  • What is the impact of collaborative storytelling?

For your summer reading, you will be choosing one of the following collaborative novels:

Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam

All American Boys by Jason Reynolds and Brendan Kiely

Both are available through Sora and in print through libraries or bookstores.  The school will also have some print copies, but you are welcome to purchase your own.  While you may choose to read along with an audiobook, please seek out a print copy (use page numbers) so that you may view visuals and cite quotations accurately.

Google Classroom Code 2022: ivzoz5c

Using one of the novels as your text, you will complete a dialectical journal and submit it to Google Classroom no later than Monday, August 29 at 2:00 pm.   Review the assignment requirements, description, and rubric
