Woodbury: Welcome to Woodbury

Welcome to Woodbury

Welcome

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Woodbury community for the 2022-2023 school year. The elementary to middle school transition is very exciting and our goal is to provide our families with as much information about Woodbury to help make the grade 5 to 6 a smooth transition. This page contains information about Woodbury's scheduling process, extra-curricular opportunities for your student, and a timeline of events that will help with this transition.

I am beyond excited to welcome you and your student to the Woodbury community. I look forward to working with you over the next three years and want you to know that I am here to support your child in any way I can.

5th Grade Transition Timeline

April

April 18-22
I will visit each 5th grade classroom to introduce myself and answer any initial questions students may have. To help me prepare for this visit, I have created a survey that I would like the students to fill out: Welcome to Woodbury School. This survey will be completed with their current 5th grade teacher.

August

Students will receive their schedules for the 2022-2023 school year. Prior to school starting, there may be other opportunities for students to meet classmates and staff members in a fun team building environment. As details are finalized, parents will be notified.

August 30th
6th Grade Orientation: We will kick off the year with a 6th grade orientation for students during the day. More information will follow as we get closer to the date.

6th Grade Scheduling Process

Your child will be carefully placed on one of three teams: Bears, Owls, or Hawks. The team placement process is extensive and has already begun. Next year’s 6th grade school counselor, Liz Remick, will collaborate with each elementary school counselor to receive information on your student’s likes, dislikes, learning style, friendships, etc. Based on these conversations and academic data, students are assigned to their 6th grade teams. In April, students will receive information about music and performing arts opportunities at Woodbury that will help round out their schedule.

Woodbury Extracurricular Opportunities

We encourage all of our students to get involved and participate in activities outside of the classroom. At Woodbury we have a number of opportunities for students. We offer athletic teams for the fall, winter, and spring seasons. Woodbury also offers the P.O.W.E.R ( Positive Ongoing Woodbury Enrichment and Recreation) Club after school which provides students a chance to join a club that interests them.

Please click the following links for more details: Woodbury Athletics, and P.O.W.E.R Club. Next year's fall sports and POWER Club registration process will be sent out this summer.
