The American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (“ARP ESSER”) Fund, authorized under the American Rescue Plan (“ARP”) Act of 2021, provides nearly $122 billion to states to support the nation’s schools in safely reopening and sustaining safe operations of schools while meeting the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of students resulting from the coronavirus disease 2019 (“COVID-19”) pandemic.
Salem was allocated $3,937,855 in funds from this program, commonly referred to as “ESSER III.” As part of the grant process, Salem had to submit an initial plan for the use of funds in August of 2021. The initial plan addressed the district's intent to allocate 20% of funding to implement learning loss interventions, as required by ESSER guidelines. Additionally, the district will pursue an engineering assessment for pandemic-related renovations to Haigh School.
We welcome additional feedback from the school board and community about this plan. Please provide your feedback here.
