Posted Date: 10/05/26 (01:13 PM)

A hooded person types on a keyboard in a dimly lit room with computer monitors, accompanied by text reading 'Cyber Criminals May Already Be Targeting Your Household: Create a Safety Action Plan.'

Dear Parents,

Keeping up with your teen’s online world isn't easy. Between social media, gaming, and messaging apps, staying ahead of digital threats can feel like a moving target.
To help keep your household safe, the Salem School District is sponsoring a Cybersecurity Awareness for NH Parents and Teens—a fast-paced, practical session on how to spot and stop online crimes targeting local families hosted by Jason Sgro & Laura Munyon from the Atom Group.

What We’ll Cover in 90 Minutes:
  • 4 Major Threats: Phishing, weak passwords, oversharing, and online predators.
  • Smart Conversations: Simple strategies and visual aids to talk with your teen, not at them.
  • Free Security Tools: Easy ways to set up password managers and device controls.
  • An Action Plan: Immediate steps you can take this week to secure your devices.
  • Live Q&A: Answers to your specific safety questions.
Event Details:
  • Date: Thursday, October 29
  • Time: 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Location: Seifert Performing Arts Center
  • Cost: Free
Bring your teen along so you can build your family's safety plan together.

I hope to see you there,

Maura Palmer, Superintendent
